My house is a polution zone of wireless devices, so I kept the box on this for nearly a year just in case it failed to work. But it worked great! I had a few criteria for a weather station that this unit met:br /br /1 - It had to have a USB port for computer data gatheringbr /2 - It had to have a switch setting that let you plug into ac power in the house and leave the backlight on (LCDs are hard to read otherwise)br /3 - It had to be wireless and live with all my 900 / 2.4 G / 5.8 G transmittersbr /4 - It had to be well made to last a long timebr /br /I looked at ALOT of weather stations at the local electronics stores, then downloaded the manual for the honeywell off the net. It met my 4 basic requirements and it turned out that the bad weather alarm was alot more accurate than originally expected (just remember it's for TOMORROW's weather). With 5 optional sensors (it comes with 1) you can monitor basement, garage, deep freeze, etc temperatures and put alarms on them as appropriate. br /br /The rain guage was very well constructed to prevent debris from causing problemsbr /br /All external equipment was built using brass inserts with machine threads, and typically 8 retained machine screws on the battery door with an o-ring to seal it up. Other than that NASA-inspired :) hatch to the batteries, it was completely weather sealed. It made recommendations of where to use the L91BP lithium AA batteries (extreme cold, sensors that transmit alot, etc) for best results.br /br /I also use two kestrel units, the Kestrel 4500NV Pocket Weather Tracker, Desert Tan and the kestrel 4500 in yellow Kestrel 4500 Pocket Weather Tracker. All 3 agree on atmospheric pressure which was great out of the box.br /br /Cons:br /br /The backlight is BRIGHT, meant to be able to see the LCD during the day, but at night it may need to be switched off depending on your light sensitivity and its location.br /br /Usage and display of data is complex - this is something you will need to read the manual for. I did before buying it so I was happy to begin with , but to get the most you'll need to know how to switch the graph display, etc.

Works great - Bigz -
Except for the difficulty in trying to register this product, all components work great and was easy to assemble. The guages appear to be very accurate.

Terrible software, can't update. - J. D Prall - Carrollton, TX USA
I bought this in late March 2010, and installed it in April. I noticed right away that there were many errors in the software, so I found the online Hideki support site, which gave a link to a 2009 update, which gave a 404 error message. I called tech support and was told "We're working on that problem."br / As of today, about 3 months later, the 404 error is still there and the update is unavailable.br /br / Others have said that apparently Honeywell licensed their name to Hideki. If I were Honeywell, I'd have my lawyers suing Hideki for defamation of character. If I were Hideki, I'd argue "What character; you'll license your name with no quality control?"br / I'll never buy any other product with the Honeywell name on it.br / Save your money and look for another brand of weather station.
